Akita
Akita is a breed of dog originally from Japan Its origin is old (about 300 years). Initially used as fighting dogs, the akita were called Odate. Brought to Tosa, became even more famous fighters, and then taken to the province of Akita, which gave rise to its name. With the popularity of dog fights in decline, mixing heavy dogs with Europeans was forgotten, which helped maintain the purity of the breed in the following years. After reaching the level of "wealth and national monument" Japanese in 1931, were brought to the United States, where they were crossed with German shepherds and promoted the watchdogs. From that moment were born two very distinct varieties of akita: Japanese and American.
